Sending Multiple Survey Templates with MailChimp
Our MailChimp integration will allow you to create an Email List of MailChimp contacts to import into AskNicely's Contact page. You can then use our Send Scheduler tool to actually send the surveys. A couple of quick items of note:
- By default, your email lists sync once a month: if you'd like that to happen more frequently we are able to accommodate - just let us know.
- Unsubscribes: If someone unsubscribes from your list in MailChimp, it will also unsubscribe them from AskNicely. If someone unsubscribes from AskNicely, it will NOT unsubscribe them from MailChimp.
- One-way sync - MailChimp > AskNicely: We do not send any data back to MailChimp.
Getting Started
We'll start by clicking App Store > Integrate > MailChimp to access the MailChimp AskNicely app.
Click on the "Configure" tab, then the "Setup" button; you'll then be asked to sign in using your MailChimp credentials:
Now it's time to select the MailChimp email list you wish to import:
After your selection, you'll see a task running on the top bar and then this confirmation:
Here is how your MailChimp list will appear once enabled:
If you then head over to the Contacts page in AskNicely, you'll see the newly added contacts.
You can now go back to the MailChimp AskNicely app (App Store > Installed Apps > MailChimp > Edit) and select additional data fields to import.
Sending Multiple Survey Templates with MailChimp
If you want to send surveys to multiple different "audiences" (say, two groups with different branding, or "post-sale" Contacts vs. "support-ticket" Contacts), you'll want to create email lists in MailChimp for each of those groups. The email list name will be stored in the Segment field on the AskNicely Contacts page.
Then, go to Surveys > Manage Templates, and make sure the "Trigger field" field is set to "Segment" - this will allow you to add new Survey Templates based on the values in the Segment field. (As explained in the previous paragraph, these Segment values are the names of your MailChimp lists.)
Every AskNicely contact will now have a designated Survey Template. Validate that Contacts have been mapped properly by going to the Contacts page and making sure that the Segment field matches the Survey Template field.
