When a contact unsubscribes, they are permanently marked as “Do Not Contact”, preventing all future survey communication. This article explains how unsubscribes work, where the link appears, how to customize it, and how to view unsubscribed contacts in your system.
💡 Introduction
Unsubscribes ensure that contacts who no longer wish to receive communications from you are permanently excluded from any future AskNicely surveys. This is important both for compliance and for maintaining customer trust.

📩 Where the Unsubscribe Link Appears
The Unsubscribe link is automatically included at the bottom of all AskNicely survey emails.

You can customize the wording of the unsubscribe link in your survey emails:

-
Click into the Survey Start tab
-
Locate the Unsubscribe Link Text field
-
Update the text to reflect your desired messaging

A: No—once a contact unsubscribes, they are permanently marked as Do Not Contact and cannot be surveyed again.
Q: Can I remove the unsubscribe link?
A: No—this link is required for compliance and user privacy. You can, however, edit the text of the link to match your brand tone.
Q: Can unsubscribed users appear in my dashboard or reports?
A: Yes, if they responded to a survey before unsubscribing, their responses remain in your data. But they will no longer receive future surveys.
