🧭 Introduction

This article explains how to integrate MailChimp with AskNicely to sync contact lists and automate survey sending. The integration is one-way (MailChimp → AskNicely) and enables targeted feedback collection using AskNicely’s Send Scheduler.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions

🔌 Connect MailChimp to AskNicely

  1. Go to App Store > Integrate > MailChimp in AskNicely.

  2. Click the Configure tab, then select Setup.

  3. Sign in with your MailChimp credentials when prompted.

📥 Select Your MailChimp List

  1. Choose the MailChimp list you'd like to import into AskNicely.

  2. Wait for the confirmation banner to appear showing the task was successful.

  3. You will now see the contacts listed on the Contacts page in AskNicely.

📊 Import Additional Data Fields

  1. Return to the MailChimp App in AskNicely:
    App Store > Installed Apps > MailChimp > Edit

  2. Check any additional fields you'd like to import alongside contact data.

🗓️ Send Surveys Using AskNicely

  1. Use the Send Scheduler to send your surveys to imported MailChimp contacts.

  2. Note: Email list syncs occur monthly by default. Contact support if you want more frequent syncing.

🧩 Sending Multiple Survey Templates

To send different templates based on audience:

  • Create separate email lists in MailChimp for each audience.

  • The email list name is stored in the Segment field in AskNicely.

  • Go to Surveys > Manage Templates and:

    • Set Survey Template assignment to "Use a column to identify my template."

    • Select Segment as the column.

    • Ensure each template name matches the value in the Segment field (i.e., MailChimp list name).

💡 You can verify this by checking the Segment field in the Contacts page.

🔄 Sync Behavior & Important Notes

  • Sync Frequency: Once a month by default (can be increased).

  • Unsubscribes:

    • If someone unsubscribes in MailChimp, they will also be unsubscribed in AskNicely.

    • If someone unsubscribes in AskNicely, they will not be unsubscribed in MailChimp.

  • One-way sync: MailChimp → AskNicely only. No data is pushed back to MailChimp.

A: Yes, each list becomes a Segment in AskNicely, allowing you to use different templates.

Q: Can I push survey responses back into MailChimp?
