Connect AskNicely to your favorite tools—without code. Zapier helps you send surveys automatically and push response data into your CRM, messaging tools, dashboards, and more.

🧭 Introduction

Zapier is a powerful tool for integrating AskNicely with platforms like Salesforce, Mailchimp, Slack, Flowdock, and hundreds of others—without needing complex API work.
You can use Zapier to:

  • Send surveys immediately after an action in another system

  • Push survey responses to other tools for visibility and action

🚀 Getting Started

  1. Create a Zapier account

    • Free accounts include 100 tasks/month

    • Note: some premium apps like Salesforce are paid

  2. Access the AskNicely Zapier App

  3. Create a new Zap—AskNicely will now appear in your app list

📩 Sending Surveys with Zapier

When setting up your Zap, choose one of these two actions:

Option Result
Add Survey Participant Sends the survey immediately
Add Person Adds the contact, but sends the survey later via Send Scheduler

✅ We recommend using "Add Survey Participant" for immediate follow-up

Before activating your Zap:

  • Ensure your Survey Template is configured (Survey Start + Survey pages)

  • Include a unique Segment for each Zap to help manage templates

🗂 Adding Additional Data Fields

You can enrich your contact records with extra fields (e.g., region, account name). Here’s how:

  1. In the Zapier Extra Info field, format your data in YAML:

    YAML region: New York account_name: Acme Corp

  2. Required fields (in lowercase):

    • name

    • email

    • segment

    • Optionally: firstname, lastname

  3. Match each value from your source tool (e.g., Mailchimp)

  4. Use Test in Zapier to verify the setup and check the Contacts page in AskNicely for results

💡 Example: MailChimp → Zapier → AskNicely

Here’s how to sync MailChimp contacts:

  1. Create a new Zap

  2. Select MailChimp → Trigger: "New Subscriber in Segment"

  3. Connect your MailChimp account "New Subscriber in Segment"

  4. Choose your list & segment

  5. Test the trigger

  6. Action: AskNicely

    • Choose Add Contact (or Add Survey Participant for immediate sends)

  7. Add required fields and segment

  8. Test & publish the Zap

🎉 Done! Your MailChimp contacts now flow into AskNicely automatically.

🔁 Pushing Responses from AskNicely → Zapier → CRM

You can also send survey response data to your CRM or messaging platform:

  • Trigger: New Survey Response in AskNicely

  • Action: Send data to tools like Salesforce, Flowdock, HubSpot, etc.

  • Include: name, email, score, comment, and other custom fields
