When sending email surveys, you may notice that they do not render in the same format when viewed within certain versions of Microsoft Outlook. Key design elements, such as score buttons, may appear skewed, misaligned, or look different compared to other email clients.
This issue occurs because Microsoft Outlook versions from Outlook 2007 to the present use Microsoft Word to render HTML emails. Microsoft Outlook offers restricted and limited support for modern HTML and CSS standards. Additionally, a few email clients have limited support for CSS background images and the properties used to control how those images appear, sometimes resulting in embedded images being skewed.
To solve for this issue, AskNicely has added a workaround that allows survey recipients to open the initial score question in a browser, where it will render correctly.
This will appear in the survey email as a link titled "View this email in your browser."
