Step-by-Step Connection Guide
Follow these steps to connect your accounts and start seeing your Google review data in AskNicely.
Note: Before you set up Google Reviews, please review your Workflows. Be sure to add a rule to each Workflow:
"question_type is [the metric of Templates that will be triggered by this Workflow]"
This will prevent Workflows being triggered by Reviews as they are imported to AskNicely.
To create a Workflow specific to Reviews, please navigate to your Workflow Page > + New Workflow > Review Reply
1. Locate the Google Reviews Banner
After the Google Reviews feature has been enabled for your account by the AskNicely team:
Navigate to your AskNicely Dashboard (Home screen).
You will see a banner titled "Google Reviews" with information on what the integration does.
Click the "Connect Google My Business" button.
- Alternatively, you can access the same banner at the top of the Overview page or from the App Store under "Review Manager".
2. Choose and Connect Your Google Account
A new window will open prompting you to sign in with Google:
Choose an Account: Select the Google account that has administrative access to your Google My Business profile(s).
Sign In: If prompted, sign in to your selected Google account.
Note: To connect, you must be the Administrator of the Google My Business account/s.
3. Grant Permissions
You will be asked to grant AskNicely permission to access and manage your Google My Business data:
The screen will show that "Reputation AskNicely wants to access your Google Account."
It will list the permissions (e.g., to see, edit, create, and delete your Google business listings).
Review the permissions and click "Allow" to complete the connection.
Linking Locations (Google Profiles)
After successfully connecting your Google account, AskNicely handles the location mapping in one of two ways:
If Locations are NOT Set Up: If you do not have any locations configured in AskNicely before connecting, the system will automatically create new locations in the Locations App based on the Google My Business profiles linked to your connected account.
-
If Locations ARE Set Up: If you already have existing locations configured in AskNicely, you will need to link the appropriate Google profile to each one manually:
Go to the Locations App.
Select each location.
Choose the correct Google My Business profile associated with that location to complete the linking.
Once configured, the data will sync overnight unless you click "Import Google Reviews," which will trigger an immediate sync.
What Happens After Connection?
Once the connection is successful and locations are linked, your Google review data will begin importing.
Note: if locations are not linked to Google Businesses the review data will not sync.
Dashboard and Reporting
Reviews Metric: A new metric called "Reviews" will appear on your dashboard, alongside your NPS, CSAT, or other metrics.
Reports: Review data will also be visible on your AI Insights and Trend Report pages.
Responses Page Management
View Reviews: Navigate to the Responses page. You can now filter or select "Reviews" from the top menu dropdown to view only your Google reviews.
Review Details: Clicking an individual review opens the review modal, where you can view the full review and star rating.
-
Reply to Reviews:
You can manually type a reply.
You can utilize the AI Suggested Reply feature to generate a quick, professional response.
Click "Reply to Review" to publish your response back to Google My Business.
Note: New Google Reviews are imported in AskNicely on a nightly basis.
