This article outlines how AskNicely syncs contact data from Salesforce and how to manage data updates depending on your integration method—Reports, Process Builder/Flows, or Marketing Cloud.
🧭 Know Before You Go
Before proceeding, determine which Salesforce integration method you are using to bring Contact data into AskNicely:
Each method functions differently when it comes to updating Contact information and related survey data.
📊 Updating Contacts Using Reports
Reports provide the most flexible and reliable method for keeping Contact data in AskNicely updated.

Navigate to:
App Store > Integrate > Salesforce -
Each enabled Report will sync automatically at the daily time set in the dropdown menu (default is 11:00 PM).

If you haven't enabled a Report yet but want to update Contact data from it:

✅ Enable the Report

🚫 Disable the Triggered toggle

🔁 Click "Sync Now"

AskNicely will then reference that specific Report, updating only the Contacts found within it and applying the latest values for each selected field.
🔧 You can change what fields are included by editing the Report structure in Salesforce at any time.
⚙️ Updating Using Flows or Marketing Cloud
Both Process Builder/Flows and Marketing Cloud are trigger-based integrations. This means:

Contact data is only updated at the moment the survey is triggered.

AskNicely uses the most recent data from Salesforce at the point of sending.
💡 For most customers using these methods, no manual update of Contact records in AskNicely is needed.
📝 Updating Existing Responses in AskNicely
AskNicely is designed to preserve the context of a Response as it was at the time it was submitted.
Here are key considerations:

✅ Updating a Contact’s data will not change previous responses.

❌ Responses already synced back to Salesforce will not update automatically.
✍️ Manually Edit a Response (within AskNicely only)
If you need to adjust response-level data like Account Manager or Location:

Open the specific Response in AskNicely.

Manually update the associated data fields.
⚠️ These edits only affect how the response appears in AskNicely—they do not sync back to Salesforce.
