Introduction
The Data Management Page in AskNicely gives Admin users powerful tools to shape how data is organized, labeled, and displayed across the platform. -
Click the field name
-
Enter a simplified or user-friendly label
-
Special characters and punctuation are not allowed
🔔 This only affects visual naming—your raw data remains unchanged
🧠 Data Definition
You can redefine certain fields to align with how they're used by different teams.
Examples:
-
Define a Scorecard metric using a specific custom field
-
Adjust a Date Field format (e.g., ISO vs. US format)
Some changes will trigger an icon in the Definition column to indicate that a manual override is in place.

👁️ Visibility Controls
By default, all custom fields are visible in filters, dashboards, and reporting.
To hide a field:
-
Deselect the visibility checkbox for that field
-
The field will still be included in CSV/API exports but not shown in the UI
🧹 Use this to declutter the interface and simplify filter choices for your team
🔍 Custom Field Origins
Each newly updated or imported field will now include its data origin. This helps you:
-
Audit where your data is coming from (e.g., CSV, API, integration)
-
Ensure accurate data mapping
-
Prevent import errors due to mismatched field names
Team Groups (Frontline Accounts Only)
Frontline-enabled accounts can:
-
Create data hierarchies that reflect your organizational structure
-
Rank data fields to match team visibility tiers
This feature is key for assigning visibility based on roles such as:
-
Regional Managers
-
Team Leads
-
Frontline Staff

Some data fields need to be grouped to provide better insights or context. With Custom Groups, you can:
-
Create entirely new data points
-
Group related fields together (e.g., Product + Version)
