Smart Ranking is an optional feature that provides a more statistically meaningful way to compare performance across teams, locations, or users on your leaderboard. Instead of ranking purely by NPS score or number of responses, Smart Ranking blends both metrics to create a balanced and fair comparison.
๐งฎ How Smart Ranking Is Calculated
When Smart Ranking is turned on, the system uses the following formula:
This formula accounts for variability in response volume and prevents high NPS scores based on low sample sizes from skewing the leaderboard.
๐ What This Means:
-
The highest NPS score wonโt always be ranked firstโespecially if the number of responses is low.
-
A high NPS with low volume is penalized to reduce false positives.
-
Entries with fewer than 5 responses are excluded from the leaderboard to maintain data integrity.
๐ Without Smart Ranking
If you choose not to use Smart Ranking, you can still manually rank your leaderboard by:
-
NPS score
-
Number of responses
These options are selectable via the leaderboard view settings.
๐ข Example
Letโs say two locations have an NPS of 50:
-
Location A: 10 responses
-
Location B: 1000 responses
Despite having the same score, Location B would rank higher because its score is statistically more reliable due to a higher number of responses.
