📱 Twilio – Using Your Own Account

🧭 Introduction

AskNicely allows you to use your own, established Twilio account to send SMS surveys and messages to your Contacts. Simply add your unique credentials into the Twilio App in AskNicely to start sending SMS surveys!

⚠️ Know Before You Go

  • Using your own Twilio Credentials will limit AskNicely Support’s ability to troubleshoot SMS delivery issues without assistance from your Twilio Admin to provide log data.

  • Sender numbers can only be associated with a single Messaging Service. Refer to Twilio’s Regulatory Guidelines for Countries to understand your sender options.

  • US and Canadian SMS services require registered and verified campaigns per Twilio policy. Ensure compliance to prevent message delivery issues.

  • Billing for per-SMS usage will be done directly through Twilio, not AskNicely.

🛠️ Getting Started

  1. Log in to your Twilio Console and navigate to the main page with your Account Info.

  2. In a separate window, open AskNicely and go to App Store > Search “Twilio.”

  3. When prompted, enter your Account SID and Auth Token.

🔄 Option 1: Creating an AskNicely Messaging Service (Recommended)

  • Inside Twilio, create a new Messaging Service with the Friendly Name: AskNicely.

  • AskNicely will auto-attach:

    • An account-specific Webhook Request URL

    • An account-specific Delivery Status Callback URL

✨ Benefits of This Option

  • Enables two-way messaging with Contacts.

  • Users can reply directly to survey responses within AskNicely.

  • Triggers SMS Workflows based on rule sets for automation.

➡️ Option 2: Using an Existing Messaging Service

  • Enter your existing Messaging Service SID when prompted.

  • Click “Save” to validate.

⚠️ Limitations of This Option

  • Only one-way outgoing SMS messages are supported by default.

  • No SMS replies from Contacts will appear in AskNicely.
