We take privacy and security seriously at AskNicely. This article explains how both administrators and survey recipients can access, update, or delete personally identifiable information (PII) from AskNicely in compliance with our Privacy Policy and Security Policy.
👩💼 As an AskNicely Customer (Admin)
If you are an AskNicely administrator and receive a request to remove personal data for one of your contacts:

Go to the Contacts page in AskNicely.

Find the contact in question and click Actions on the far right.

Select "Delete this Contact".
🧼 This will:
- Prevent you from re-adding, modifying, or surveying that specific email ever again.
- Email will be added to your block list
- Remove the contact from the Contacts Page and replace their name/email with a unique privacy key.
- Make their past responses anonymous.
📩 For an AskNicely Survey Recipient
Survey recipients can manage their personal data directly via the survey they received. Here’s how:
1️⃣ Click the Privacy Link
Every survey includes a Privacy link—recipients can click this to manage their data.
2️⃣ Enter Email for Verification
They’ll be prompted to enter their email address to verify their identity.
3️⃣ Confirm via Verification Email
A verification email will be sent. The recipient must click the link in this email to proceed.
4️⃣ Access Personal Data Controls
Once verified, the user can:

Access and view all personal data

Download their data as a CSV
-
Update their information
-
Delete their personal data entirely
