The Email Blocklist in AskNicely allows Admins to prevent specific email addresses or entire domains from being imported into their account via CSV, API, or integrations. This is especially helpful for excluding internal company addresses or honoring requests from individuals who do not wish to receive communication.
🧱 What is the Email Blocklist For?
-
Prevent importing your own employees into your feedback pool (e.g.,
@yourcompany.com
) -
Block specific individuals who have opted out of feedback requests
-
Avoid unnecessary survey sends to inactive or irrelevant contacts
💡 The Blocklist only stops new imports. Existing Contacts will still need to be handled separately.
🔧 How to Access and Manage the Blocklist
-
Click the Settings (⚙️) icon on the left navigation bar.
-
Navigate to: General > Email Blocklist
-
Add entries in one of the following two formats (see below).
-
Click Save to update the list.
✉️ Acceptable Formats
1. Specific Email Address
Use this to block a single Contact:
This ensures that only that individual is blocked from being imported again.
2. Entire Email Domain
Use this to block all addresses from a domain:
This will block anyone with that email domain from being imported into AskNicely.
⚠️ Important Notes & Limitations
-
The blocklist only affects imports via:
-
CSV upload
-
API
-
Integrations
-
-
Manual entries using the Add Contact button are not blocked by this feature.
-
AskNicely does not support wildcards (e.g.,
*@domain.com
is invalid). -
Already imported contacts must be:
-
Unsubscribed, or
-
Deleted manually on the Contacts page.
-
-
If a Workflow isn't reaching a User or Contact, the Blocklist may be the reason. You can also check the Unsubscribed List under Contacts > Actions > Download Unsubscribed List.
