🖥️ How to Set Up Your In-Office Monitor with AskNicelyTV

Displaying your AskNicelyTV dashboard on an in-office monitor is a powerful way to keep customer experience top of mind. This guide walks you through setting up a physical monitor using a Chromebit, laptop, or smart display to showcase real-time feedback across your organization.

 

📦 Required Hardware

There are a few ways to run AskNicelyTV depending on the equipment available:

Option 1: Chromebit Setup

Option 2: Laptop Setup

  • ✅ Password-protected laptop with HDMI

  • ✅ TV with HDMI input

  • ✅ HDMI cable

Option 3: Casting to a Smart TV

  • ✅ A TV with screen mirroring or casting

⚠️ Note: Smart TVs are not recommended due to display limitations and iFrame/browser issues.

📤 Unboxing & Setting Up Your Chromebit

  1. Unbox your Chromebit and plug in the flexible rubber HDMI extender.

  2. Connect the power cable.

  3. Plug the USB dongle (from your wireless keyboard) into the Chromebit.

  4. Turn on your keyboard using the switch on the back.

📺 TV Setup

  1. Plug the Chromebit into HDMI 1 on your TV.

  2. Use the remote and select HDMI 1 as the input source (via the “Source” button).

  3. You should now see the Chrome OS boot screen.

⚙️ Chrome OS Setup

  1. Ensure your keyboard connects (look for green ticks).

  2. Follow the on-screen setup to:

    • Connect to Wi-Fi

    • Update firmware (click “Yes” if prompted)

    • Log into or create a Google account

🔧 Configuring Chrome OS

  1. Once booted, open the Chrome browser.

  2. Visit the Chrome Web Store and install the:

    • ✅ AskNicely Dashboard Assistant Chrome extension

This extension is required to display dashboards correctly—without it, you’ll see a blank white screen.

▶️ Running the AskNicely Dashboard

  1. In Chrome, go to your AskNicely account and log in.

  2. Navigate to the Dashboard, then click the TV icon in the top-right.

  3. To go full-screen:

    • Click the three-dot menu (top right)

    • Select the square icon for full-screen mode

🎉 If everything went well, you should see your live AskNicely dashboard on the monitor!
