Want to show off the great feedback your customers are giving you? With AskNicely's Testimonials feature, you can send your favorite comments directly to a public-facing carousel on your marketing website โ with just one click!
This guide will show you how to:

Click the โ๏ธ Cog Wheel to access settings

Select Testimonials
- (Optional) Choose your options, if different from the displayed defaults
- Clickย Update

๐ Testing & Embedding the Code

To test the code, click either of the test buttons (b) to launch it in JSFiddle

If you donโt have any testimonials yet, you can preview examples by clicking Testimonials from AskNicely (c)

When you're ready, copy the script to embed by clicking Copy Javascript (d)

Scroll down the page for display and filter options that can be configured directly in the script

<div>and<script>tags in the body of your webpage โ not in the header.

โ๏ธ Preparing Your Publish Request Template
To publish a testimonial, you first need customer permission. AskNicely makes this easy with a built-in publish request template (marked with a โค๏ธ icon).
To customize the template:

Click a response to open the reply modal

Click Reply Template

Click the โ๏ธ pencil icon next to the template with the โค๏ธ

Update the language to match your brandโs tone
โ IMPORTANT: Keep the{publishlink}tag โ this is how the customer approves publishing -
Click Save and close the modal
๐ Sending a Publish Request
From anywhere in AskNicely:

Go to the Responses page (๐ฌ bubble in the nav bar)

Find the response you want to publish

Click ๐ค Publish

(Optional) Edit the request email text
-
Click Send
๐ The status will show "Waiting" until the customer grants permission

Once approved, it changes to "Published", and a dropdown will appear with more options
๐ซ Hiding a Published Testimonial
Want to remove a testimonial from the carousel?

Go to the response on the Responses page

Click the Published dropdown

Select Hide
You can unhide the testimonial later by selecting Show from the same menu.
โFAQs & Common Issues
Q: Do I need customer permission to publish a testimonial?
A: Yes. A testimonial is only published after the customer approves via the {publishlink} in your email template.
Q: Can I customize how the testimonials look on my website?
A: Absolutely! Your web developer can style the widget using CSS to match your brand guidelines.
Q: What happens if I have fewer than 3 testimonials?
A: The carousel will still show, but we recommend waiting until you have a few to make it visually appealing.
Q: Where can I pull data to see which Response has approved publication?
From your Responses page, you can download the Responses CSV (blue "Download" link). Ensure that the "published" field check box is selected before download. Your CSV will include a "published" column that will display "approved" if the survey taker has approved.ย
