Unlock insights from open-ended customer feedback using AI-powered theme detection. Available on Standard and Advanced plans, AI Themes let your team instantly spot trends and prioritize what matters most to your customers.

What Are AI Themes?

AI Themes use proven language models to extract and categorize the key sentiments and topics from open comment survey responses. These themes help managers:

  • Identify what’s driving scores (NPS, CSAT, 5-Star)

  • Understand recurring concerns or praise

  • Take immediate, data-informed action

Important: Your survey must include an Open Comment question with the question key of comment for AI Themes to function.

Getting Started

  • Language: AI Themes are currently available in English only

  • Activation:

    • Navigate to Settings > Account > Settings

    • If included in your plan, you’ll see an option to enable AI Themes

    • All accounts also have access to Classic Themes

Creating Suggested Themes

You can generate AI-based themes from your existing survey responses using context specific to your business:

  1. Visit the Themes page

  2. Click Generate Themes

  3. AI will suggest themes based on:

    • Your customer responses

    • Your industry, values, or services

  4. Click Add Theme to include a suggested theme into your dashboard view

💡 AI Themes automatically pull and update relevant phrases—no manual tagging needed.

Ongoing Theme Monitoring

AskNicely will continue analyzing incoming survey responses and suggest new themes over time:

  • Suggested Themes appear at the bottom of the Themes page

  • Click Accept to instantly add a suggested theme

  • Review and monitor in real-time as more data is received

Hot Tip: Your Dashboard filters affect what themes and data are displayed. Adjust filters to expand or narrow your view.

Managing Themes

AI Themes are designed to be low-maintenance:

  • Hover over a theme to edit ✏️ or delete 🗑️

  • No need to manually assign keywords—AskNicely’s model updates theme categorization automatically

  • Themes are displayed across the Dashboard, Insights, and Reports

FAQ

  • Q: Why are some Responses not tagged with a Theme?
    A: A comment must have three or more words before it is assessed by AI Themes
